Routes

The Cruiser

The journey starts after a hearty breakfast in our four star Hotel, our trail takes you along the Millennium Cycling route Number 56 – which passes our doorstep in the picturesque village of Thornton Hough, down to Parkgate. Here you can have the “Cruiser Snack” on one of the seaside benches or just simply relax on the old sea walls and enjoy the beautiful views over to  the welsh hills. On the way back we suggest you stop in the historic market town of Neston from where you will make your way back through the little village of Raby returning to your Hotel.

The journey will take approx. 2 hours, allowing for a 40 minute stop in Parkgate, it’s an easy and beautiful glimpse of the Cheshire and Wirral Countryside.

The Explorer

From the Hotel you start the journey on the Millennium Cycle route up to Brimstage (if you want to make it a nice little shopping trip: why not stop at Brimstage Hall Art and Craft Centre? It’s worth a journey and all presents and souvenirs can be picked up on your departure or we can arrange a pick up for you). From Brimstage the path brings you to Landican, a turn to the left brings you towards  Irby and then down to Thurstaston. The route from here is a “traffic free off road cycling path” which runs along the beautiful Dee Estuary. We suggest that you have a break in this beautiful area and enjoy the freshly prepared “Explorer Picnic”-  The views out to the Irish Sea and the Welsh Hills are stunning. The way back to your hotel is via the Millennium Cycle Route.

The Explorer will take approx. 4 hours and you will need some cycling experience to do it.

The Adventurer

Again the start is directly from the Hotel along the Millennium Cycling route which takes you all the way down to Wallasey. The park and the parade around here are just perfect for an “Adventurer Lunch Break” and the views across Liverpool Bay are stunning. If you think it’s still too early for lunch, further your adventure and take the Cycling Way north to New Brighton at the mouth of the River Mersey. From here you have great views over to Liverpool, the European Capital of Culture, there are benches to have lunch directly on the Promenade at New Brighton. Great for a break anyway - both children and adults can enjoy the fun park and different amusements. After being refreshed you go further on until you reach Birkenhead from where you take your bike on the famous ferry, across the Mersey, over to Liverpool.

After a few hours at the Albert Dock you get on the ferry and make your way home along the Millennium Cycle route.

You have to calculate 6 to 8 hours for this, we can also provide a pickup service in Birkenhead, if you wish by prior arrangement.
